The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

I bought The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker used a few weeks before I got the Wii/Twilight Princess, and played it a bit and enjoyed it. But then I got engrossed in Twilight Princess and the Wii and hadn’t played Wind Waker since. Just yesterday, I started playing again, and I am on the fence as to which Zelda game I like playing better! Wind Waker is really cool because the cel-shaded graphics are amazing. I love the style of it so much. I haven’t seen any other game look like this. Also, the overall tone is more light-hearted than Twilight Princess. The dialogue is funny and the characters (especially Tetra) have a lot of personality, and even some of the actions, like hiding in barrels or sidling up to a wall, are fun and childish (in a good way). It’s a nice contrast to the more “serious” tone of Twilight Princess.

Lots of people who got a Wii and are new to Nintendo games ought to get Wind Waker. It’s really one of the best Gamecube games out there. I just wish I could use the Wiimote and Nunchuk with it. Since you can pick up a used copy of Wind Waker for ~$15, it’s really a no-brainer!

Lost and Found

I had been looking for my old Torrance High class ring for many years now, and I finally got it in the mail. An old friend of mine found it and sent it along with a Xmas card! I am stoked! It’s a little tight on my ring finger, but I am sure I will get used to it.

Not So Much

Have you noticed that people have been using the phrase, “Not so much” (as in “This one is great, that one, not so much”) a lot lately? I’m sure it’s because of Borat, but I wonder if all of the people who newly use that phrase know of Borat, of if it is just spreading by itself. I remember that the phrase “That being said,…” and “Having said that,…” became popular a few years back. You hear it these days all the time, especially at the workplace, but ten years ago, not so much.

Running Log

6.5mi at the Y (treadmill).

Was sweating so much, that my right earphone got filled with sweat and stopped working. I think I need a pair of over-the-ear headphones for running.

Yummy Ramen

Today we relaxed at home in the morning. The kids played in the backyard for a bit on my Dad’s bridge and had a lot of fun. For lunch, we all went to the Mitsuwa shopping center off of Carson and Western and had ramen at Santoka. Sugoi oishikatta! I had the miso ramen with ikura-donburi. The kids shared a shoyu-ramen and played in the small tatami-room. That ramen is soooo good.

After returning home, we took the kids to the park at Hickory School. It’s always fun to take them there since that is the same park my brothers and friends and I used to play at when we were kids. The rocket ship is still the same, but everything else in the sandbox is different. Still lots of fun, tho!

Travel Day

Today we flew to Torrance to visit my folks for the holidays. We left the house at 7:30am and got to the airport in plenty of time, unlike our last trip to Jamaica where we missed our flight. The terminal was really empty, we just checked in our bags with no real lines to speak of. The flight was good, Koa and Bay did great!

At my parents house, we had my Mom’s submarine sandwiches waiting for us (I made a special request) with some Hawaiian-style potato chips from Trader Joe’s, and my Mom’s awesome potato salad. It was great. I finished two subs and washed it down with a Beck’s.

Later that afternoon, my brother and his two kids arrived from the OC and we proceeded to play some Wii. It was then that I discovered that I blew it and forgot to bring Super Swing Golf for him to try. It was pretty much the main thing I wanted to bring for him. Oh well… we had lots of other games to play.

For dinner, my mom made roast beef and we pigged out again.
