“Repeal Day is not widely celebrated in this country, yet it commemorates the anniversary of the day the United States repealed the Eighteenth Amendment and gave Americans the constitutional ability to consume alcohol.

I can no longer find Vienna Sausages nor Spam at my Costco! WTH?! 2007 Nov 21
There is a new Japanese restaurant that just opened in North Austin (Arboretum). It’s called “Kenobi”. Mariko was telling me that they probably wanted it to mean “Beauty of Swords” (Ken no Bi), but instead it sounds like “Growing Hair”. Star Wars fans probably have a different take altogether. 2007 Nov 20
Yesterday we went to Marie Callender’s to meet friends for our 5th? annual Thanksgiving lunch. This year I opted out of having turkey, since I knew I would be eating it again today, and then of course on Thursday. Instead, I got the meatloaf sandwich on grilled Parmesan sourdough bread. The sandwich was good, but the bread was awesome! I gotta learn how to do it. It seems just like butter and Parmesan, but there must be some secret… It was delicious. 2007 Nov 08
The air in Texas is getting a chill. In our house, that means big pots of warm food. In particular, oden, nabe, and curry. We had oden a couple weeks ago, and Mariko and the kids had nabe the other night. That means curry time is next! Woohoo! I love beef curry, chicken curry, curry over katsu, curry over croquettes, etc etc. I am talking about Japanese style curry here. Although I love all other curries too, a big dish of kare-raisu cannot be beat on a cold evening. 2007 Oct 11

![]() Last night there was a birthday party at our house for myself and my friend Také. There was lots of good food, some amazing cakes, and a good time was had by all. Click the pic to see more photos at Flickr. 2007 Sep 30
I bought a pack of these dogs at the HEB the other day. They were really good, with some snap to them, and a nice texture. Plus the taste was excellent. It was curious to me that the Texas Heritage Originals are actually made in Ohio…
