Curry Curry Curry

Last night's curry was awesome! Before I met Mariko, I used to make curry, but had no idea what I was doing. The way Mariko makes it is to cook all the veggies and meat in broth to get the perfect amount of tenderness, then shortly before serving add the curry and any other seasonings she thinks it might need. Some last minute flavor tweaks include adding worchester sauce, fruit preserves, and ketchup. We also like to have hard boiled egg with our kare-raisu. You might not be able to see it in the picture, but the main ingredients were perfect for a hearty-style curry. Beef, potatoes, carrots, onion, and mushroom. She also prepared the perfect side dish to kare-raisu, that being macaroni salad. And of course a cold beer is the beverage of choice!

courtney: Man, that looks and sounds tasty. What's your favorite beer to have with curry?

Barron: My favorite is Sapporo (black). But, that is just my favorite Japanese beer, not necessarily with curry, I guess. We didn't have Sapporo in the fridge, but we did have some Kirin with this particular batch. :)

courtney: You know, my boyfriend and I tried Sapporo black for the first time last night, and really enjoyed it! I can't believe we've never had it.
